Summertime and the livin's easy!

Summer time will soon be here and I need a new swimsuit! Its only been about 5 years since I have been wearing a swimsuit. I use to be that one woman who never wore a swimsuit because I was embarrassed and ashamed I was overweight. My excuse was I don't know how to swim so why would I go into the pool or beach, no need to buy a swimsuit.  My brother bought a house with a pool, about 5 years ago and the first hot weekend all the kids were in there splashing.  I was just there sitting pool side looking at all my nieces and nephews having a blast, they all kept asking me to jump in.  One day I finally gave in, I was shopping and saw a cute swimsuit on sale and said to my self I need to try it on.  I tried it on it fit and I didn't look as awful as I   thought I would!  I told my self why am I hiding not enjoying my life, if I can't wear a swimsuit in front of my own family there is something seriously wrong.  I had spent too many summer days not enjoying  my self because of the shame I felt of wearing a swimsuit.  I bought that swimsuit and jumped right into the pool the next day. OK so that was like 5 years ago, and let me tell you I still have that same swimsuit. I have worn it at my brothers house, in Palm Springs, in Las Vegas and other places.  This summer I need a new one, that swimsuit became almost a safety blanket, time to move on.  So I have been cruising the internet and found a few I am considering.  Although I have over come wearing a swimsuit in public, I need to try them on of course.  I need one the will hold the girls and hide some rolls and bulges.  I'm not completely cured of my issues.

So ladies please share you stories, do you wear a swimsuit out in public? Where do you shop? Any tips to look your best and be confident in a swimsuit?  Always look forward to your comments and thoughts.

  2. I wear the same electric blue tankini! LOL it's time for a new one! I used to feel ashamed and embarrassed but hell, I'm good on that now! My thighs, I hate my thighs...they are big and pasty lol if I tan, I don't mind showing them off. I used to hate swim suits, but I need to buy some news ones very very soon && I soooooooooooooo love the bronze suit from Old Navy. OH MY! If my monies come before I go to Vegas, I may need to buy that one since I can't get the fringed suit from Monif in time.

  3. I wear a swimsuit but I always use a cover-up or swim trunks over them. I'm not a big fan of my thighs either. Hopefully, I will be able to tone them before this summer. I love that first swimsuit, but I'll take anything that holds everything in. lol

  4. Wow I wish I was like all of you! I haven't worn a bathing suit in a few years. My friends love the beach and I never go because i use the excuse i hate the beach because I'm not comfortable wearing a bathing suit. I have a pool and my friends swim at my house all the time and I never go in and they always look like there having fun. Maybe this year i will gain enough confidence to get in the water and have fun with them!

I'm really liking the first bathing suit. But i feel like i would wear a big shirt over it with some board shorts just to make me feel more comfortable. :)

  5. I love to swim so i rock the heck out of a swimsuit. and to be honest, most of mines have come from wal-mart. I have to by separates due to my chest size and they are GREAT for that. their plus-size options get better every year.

  6. I love to swim but all my suits must have underwire in them. I don't get why Torrid doesn't sell underwire bathing suit tops.

  7. I really love those first 2! I used to buy swimsuits from Old Navy all the time :) I haven't worn a swimsuit since I had my last child 2 years ago because of my weird tummy and because I haven't needed one yet. But I do need to get over it and get in there too. Thanks for the inspiration CC! :)
