What's in a name!

That is the question I have for you, my wonderful followers and readers, I am seeking your advice, expertise and opinions.  So recently I have been contemplating changing the name of my blog, I even have started a new one which is still under construction.  I am not sure what to do here, should I change the name of this blog "Chunky Curlz" or just start up a new blog with the new name?  I am not sure what the rules, regulations or blog "etiquette" is.  I was recently asked why I named my blog "Chunky Curlz", well I didn't really have a great answer.  Honestly when I first started blogging I was not sure what I was doing.  I had seen many blog with the words "Curves", "Fat" or "Big" in the name. I didn't want to use any of those words or variation of them, I did want my blog name to identify it as a plus size, blog.  Chunky Curlz name refers to me! I am chunky, and I have curly hair,  I know your thinking how does that name refer to your blog being about plus size or fashion. Well that is my point it does not.  The name is not relevant nor does it portray the vision I have for my blog.  I truly enjoy blogging and when I first started almost a year ago it was more for fun as a hobby to pass the time. Now, I want to really focus on blogging and build my blog as true source of inspiration, knowledge and information for plus size fashion.
Well all this brings me to these question I have for you!
  1. Is it ok for me to randomly change the name of this blog "Chunky Curlz" and keep the same url (www.chunkycurlz.blogspot.com}?  I am not sure if it is possible to also change the url through blogger and not affect any aspect of my blog.
  2. If I do decide start a new blog, will you my current followers and reader, also follow and read the new blog? I  don't want to give up all my work and momentum I have gained with this blog. I have a lot time and energy invested in Chunky Curlz.
  3. I have many new names for the blog, but can't decide. Can you please vote and help me come up with a new name.
  • Cid's Style File (Cid is me and this blog is my style file)
  • iStylePlus (as in internet, a play on words from apple i products)
  • Style is a Plus! (plus referring to plus size)
  • Fashion Army Plus (plus size fashion revolution being created)
  • Plus Style Mode (I just like the way the word Mode sounds!)
So please help me decide what to do, I value your opinions and advice. Thank you for taking the time to read this post and please leave me your comments.

  1. Its definitely possible to change the name of the blog while keeping the same URL. You won't have to worry about losing any momentum of readership you've built up.

My rename vote is for Cid's Style File. I'm kinda over all the fatshion blogs with plus, fat, and curvy in the title.

  6. I don't know, if you think you have a pretty good readership w/ this url, I would be hesitant to have to start again with a new one. But loyal readers would prob just follow you anyway. I don't know, sometimes I wish I had named my blog something else b/c it's pretty similar to a lot of "fatshion" or "fats-" blogs. I agree w/ xtina about Cid's Style File!

  8. since everyone else pretty much answered the change question, i will just say unless you really feel a need to change the URL, don't.

its really not necessary unless its really important to you to have a blog URL that references particular words, for example, style...

and my 2 cents re the name, i like Cid's Style File..very cute

  9. I'll follow you anywhere you go! I too like Cids Style File.

My blog name has absolutely nothing to do with fashion I suppose. lol You'd have to read it to know the content was geared towards fashion and well, pretty much everything else. I'd probably say play it safe with not changing the url, some folks may be a bit lazy with updating bookmarks.

  10. I don't think it'll be a problem, as long as you tell your readers in advance - and if you change your url, make sure you make a big fanfare about it!

    I like Cid's style file too :)

  11. I vote for Cid's StTyle File!

Any type of change you make, as long as you let your audience know, you should be okay! I have been going through an identity change as well, ever since my blog crashed in Jan, wanting to change the current theme....

Always letting you readers know what you are doing will help keep them in the loop, and not be a surprise when things do change!

    Great way to reach out!!!

Get it girl and keep it up!

  13. I like your current title and there is nothing wrong with the explanation you gave for how the title came around.

As for changing blogs. You could do that but it's important to realize that this blog has already been ranked by google and if you start a new blog you'll be starting from scratch again. If that doesn't bother then you'll want to make sure that you have your last post on this blog be a message and link to your new blog. DON'T delete the old blog, it can still work for you.

IF you decide to stay with this one, there's nothing wrong with having a different name on your blog than your URL. I do it. :D

    Cheers!

  15. My suggestion is this. If u r worried about losing all your work by changing the name and readers not identifying anymore pick a new name and buy a dot com When u change your blog address to a dot come people who know your blog as chunky curlz will be redirected your new dot com blog address. This way you get to change your name and u wont use readers. like when people type in fatshopaholic.blogspot.com they are redirected fatshopaholic.com
