Trend: Espadrilles

After a few weeks of cold and rainy weather, spring has arrived. Yesterday it was about 80 degrees and today its going to be mid 80's in LA.  So that means its sandal weather and getting my pedicure to show off my toes. This spring a new type of shoes is the hot trend, espadrilles. Espadrilles are not really a new shoe, but they have been updated and made more trendy and stylish.  Ever since I can remember as a little girl, every spring and summer time I got a new pair of espadrille shoes. In case your not sure what a espadrille shoe is here is a definition (link)  Personally I have always loved them for the comfort and casual style.  Espadrilles are made of cotton/canvas and rope, making them very cool for the hot summer months.  Growing up espadrilles were all one style the flat, canvas kind that look like a pair of ballet flats.  Today espadrilles  have evolved come a in variety of styles and heel heights and colors.  Many high end designers have also created their own espadrille styles, with the high end price, of course.  I have never been to good with high heels or high end prices, below are some picks of espadrilles in lower heel to flat styles with lower prices as well.

Have you ever worn espadrilles? Are you going to try this trend? Let me hear it! :)

Fresh Face: Danielle Zavala

The internet is an awesome place, every day I learn about new things and meet new people.  I became award about a new plus model Danielle Zavala on Facebook and was very happy to find out she was from So Cal/OC area.  I reached out to her and she agreed to do an interview.  The plus model industry is growing and its nice to see new fresh faces emerge on the scene.  Read the interview below and get to know Danielle Zavala.

Name: Danielle “Darling” Zavala
Hometown: Yorba Linda, CA
Agency: Not signed

Why or how did you get into the plus modeling industry?
- I got into modeling when I heard about the Torrid model search this past summer. I just had so much fun during my photo shoot and was hooked! Then after my first runway show I just knew I found my place in the world.

How long have you been a plus model?

- I have been modeling for about 6 months now so I’m still pretty new.

What are you goals for plus modeling?

-My main goal is to have fun but to also be a voice for young women who are afraid of their curves. I want to motivate young women to love who they are and how to be the confident & curvy women they are!

You recently walked the runway at The Curvy Revolution in Las Vegas, can you tell us briefly about your experience?

-It was PHENOMENAL! Definitely a dream come true. This was only my second runway show so my adrenaline was pumping like crazy. I had such a blast. The Lane Bryant models were just inspirational and all the other models were so fun to work with. I was so glad that I was chosen to walk for! I just love their outfits and to be given the chance to represent them was truly a blessing.

Do you typically do runway model or print modeling?

-I normally do print modeling or Vintage Pin up modeling. Vintage pin up modeling is definitely my favorite!

Is there any project or campaigns you are working on currently?

- I am currently working with Gordita Y Que Accessories and will probably be shooting their catalog this April/May. Gordita Y Que Accessories is a vintage reproduction accessory line that also makes custom designed flowers, bows and jewelry for the curvy girl!

Where do you shop for trendy and stylish plus size clothes:

-I get most of my clothing from and I just love wearing vintage dresses because they are made for curvy girls like me! If I’m not in vintage clothing then I love to shop in Forever 21’s plus section.

What is your favorite thing about being a plus size model?

-I love that as a plus model I don’t have to worry about if I’m being judged. I can be comfortable just being me and that’s an amazing feeling.

Where can we find you (facebook, twitter or website)?

-I can be found on a few different sites. They are:
Danielle recently became the Bad Betty's Boutique Model & Representative. They are a lingerie boutique in Huntington Beach, California that also does Boudoir Photo shoots. Their website is  Danielle informed me if you are local and go to their shop mention her name and you can get a discount.  Thanks to Danielle for letting me interview her and feature her on Cid Style File.

LA Fashion Week: Jenny Dayco

It's LA Fashion Week here in Los Angeles, and thanks to joining TwoPointOhLA bloggers network I was able to attend some LAFW events.   Made my way to downtown LA and visited some designer showrooms.  At the Dress Up event there were several designers displaying their fall 2011 collections.  One of my favorites was jewelry designer Jenny Dayco. Jenny Dayco is a Los Angeles based jewelry designer with one-of-a-kind and limited edition pieces expose a clever mix of sultry femininity with her own witty sense of humor.  Her jewelry has been worn by celebrities like; Rihanna, Beyonce Knowles, Avril Lavigne, Paris Hilton, Kelly Clarkson, The Pussycat Dolls, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez just to name a few. Jenny's jewelry has also been featured in many magazines world wide. She was on hand to reveal her new collection for fall 2011, with a mix of gold and silver pieces inspired with a touch of Cleopatra meets the 70's disco era .  She has lots of long dangling earrings, big rings and awesome bracelets.  Really something for everyone can be found in her collection . All her jewelry is unique and whimsical.  Definitely statement jewelry and very fun to wear. I especually loved a brass studded cuff, it was hot!  Jenny was very nice and open to answer any questions about her self or her jewelry.  I will for sure be adding some her pieces to my collection, which are quite affordable. Check out her jewelry, I am sure you will find something you love.

Some of the Jenny Dayco Fall 2011 collection, that's me with her! Fave piece was the brass studded cuff.

Weekend Review: East Village Art Walk

Lyons at Night Event

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.  Wow can't believe its mid March already, this year is flying by! Well one good thing that happened this weekend was daylight sayings time.  I totally love this time, I feel much more productive!  LA Fashion Week also starts today, so look out for some post about it all week long.  OK so now on to my weekend review.  Saturday night I attend a local Long Beach art walk, in the East Village Arts District.  Oh yeah we have an art scene in Long Beach, its quite awesome.  Every 2nd Saturday of the month its held near downtown Long Beach. Lots of great artist displayed along with local vendors all selling their crafts, arts, music or yummy food. You should definitely check it out if your near the LB area.  If your in Long Beach come on over and ride your bike, they even offer complimentary bike valet! I also went to check out the Fingerprints, a local music store, where you can actually still purchase vinyl records.  You know those old school round black things you play on a record player.  Wow so dating my self! ha ha  The new Lyon Art Supply location also had their own event with a collection of art, hand made crafts, food music and a cool BMX installation.  Tried some yummy fusion food by local restaurant Sura Korean BBQ, ate Korean tacos, with kimchi. I definitely need go try some of their other food.  East Village is a really cool area of Long Beach very artsy and chill. Art galleries, cafe's, eateries and some bars. Perfect for all you hipster, you will feel right at home.

How was your weekend? Is the time change messing with your schedule?
It takes me a couple days to adjust!

I Feel Golden

I got a package today in the mail from Aviesta,(members only shopping website).  I ordered a pair of earrings a few weeks ago and almost forgot about them, oops!  OK so after deciding to give up shopping for Lent, I guess its a good thing my packages coming in late. Makes me feel like I am shopping, since I can't until Easter.

So I bought these Amrita Singh gold Aztec Knot earrings.  Now that I received them not sure how I feel about them.  When I was a kid/teen I hated gold. Never wore it and thought it was tacky. You know only old ladies and rappers wore gold....ha ha ha  Seriously I thought that way. Well now I am older and have matured, so has my style.  I still don't wear too much gold or gold tone jewelry, but I am slowly embracing it.  Now back to the earrings, online I loved them & had to have them.  They are a bit larger than I expected and seriously not sure what to wear them with.  Debating if I should return them.

Hmmm what do you think?
Keepers? What outfit would you wear them with?

80's Dance Party

OMG! Like the 80's are totally awesome! LOL OK I had to get that out. I attended a 80's themed dance party this Sunday. The party was for So Much Pretty 2 yr blog anniversary. Bren the creator of So Much hosted a pretty bitchin 80's party in a loft in downtown LA.  I was hesitant at first to attend thinking I had nothing to wear.  I didn't want to go out and spend money on items to wear just for one night.  Rummaging through my closet I found some pieces to put together hoping it would give me a 80ish look. Over all I think my outfit looked pretty rad! ha ha I know all those 80's terms are so cheesy and lame, but really the 80's party gave me some serious flashbacks. The fashion, the music and movies, I seriously loved the 80's.

So Much Pretty 80's Dance Party

Below is what I ended up wearing, channeling a bit of Madonna.  I think the amethyst colored tights is what totally made this outfit 80's.  Tights were gifted from We Love Colors and I will be doing a review of them along with another pair later this week.  I also had to break out my Jeffery Campbell studded boots, which haven't gotten much wear.  They kinda remind me of the studded boots from the movie Desperately Seeking Susan that Madonna fell in love with at the vintage shop.  Well they are not exactly the same, but I felt the same way when I saw them at the store. They had to be mine and would anything to get them!  LOL

Orient Automatic Watch Giveaway

To kick off the month long celebration of giveways Orient Watch is giving a lucky CSF reader a watch of your choice pictured below. I love watches and never go anywhere with out one. A nice classic watch can be a fashion staple with standing the ever changing trends.  Orient Watch has been making great time pieces for 60 years and has a variety of styles for both men and women  Below you can see a sample of their standard line, which one of you can win. You can chose from the woman's line with either a green, pink, red or blue face or a mans in khaki. Either watch would be a great addition to your collection and wardrobe.  Me personally, I like to wear a mans watch occasionally.  Something about the big oversize aspect of it makes it feel stylish on a woman.  Orient Watch has a few I would totally love to add to my collection; the CFHAA001B is sleek and has a bit of edge with the black face  and skeleton case exposed.  My second choice is CFDAC004W a more classic look with the square shape and roman numerals.   Both are great and would be stylish for a man or woman.

What type of watch do you prefer to wear, men or woman styles?

Yes It's True, I Am Two!

Guess who's turning 2 yrs old...ME!! OK not me but my blog Cid Style File, March is my 2 year blog anniversary.  Can't believe its been 2 years since I started blogging, time files when you having fun.  Corny saying but it really is true.  I never imagined I would be blogging this long.  It started out as a hobby, just something to keep me busy while I was unemployed.  I really had no idea what I was doing or what to do as far as blogging was concerned.  I have learned so much about blogging and fashion in these past 2 years.  The blog has become more than just a hobby, because let me tell you, blogging can be hard work! LOL  I love it all, it really has become a passion and enjoy all the good and yes even some bad things about blogging.  I don't claim to be a pro or expert blogger by now, although I have learned many things.  There is so much more to learn and room to grow as a blogger. This year I welcome it all, from attending more fashions shows, to reviewing products, more outfit post and meeting new bloggers. What is come of my blog, only time will tell. I have many ideas and plans and hope to execute them all by the end of the year.  Cid Style File would not be here 2 years later with out the support of all the wonderful readers.  I wake up everyday eager to reading the comments and email I receive from readers.  My gratitude and appreciate to everyone who reads, follows and comments on the blog.  To thank you all I have a few special giveaways planned this entire month.  So please keep reading, following and commenting on the blog.  I hope to be here another year or two and sharing my fashion journey!
