Happy Hour

The weekend is over and so is my freedom!  Just kidding, I'm joking about it since I return back to the cubicle life on Monday.  I am grateful to be returning to work, so that means I have to dig out my "business attire"  I have never been one to love wearing business clothes, although my office dress code is more relaxed.  I still struggle with figuring out what to wear.  This weekend I had a little "happy hour" gathering with my girlfriends and enjoy some girl time.  Sadly most of my friends flaked out & didn't show up.  My BFF did come and to enjoy some wine and appetizers. Most people don't know this about me but I'm a really good party host. Even though this little happy hour was planned kinda last minute, I still managed to hook it up! :)   I had all the essentials; lotsa wine, cheese, crackers, chips, hummus, pita chips and yummy BBQ sliders.  Oh yeah and can't forget dessert (cheesecake)  It was really nice to see my bestie, hadn't seen her in a while and we had so much to catch up on.  Overall it was a very nice evening and we enjoyed all the wine and eats.  The weather was great and I enjoyed putting together a nice little spread for my "happy hour".  So now that I will be joining the 9-5 crowd, I am gonna look forward to the real happy hours!

I wanted to be cute & comfy (my fashion motto) and wore a new maxi dress I bought last week.  I probably won't be wearing maxi dresses much for the office, so this will probably be my weekend wardrobe for the summer.  I tried out a new color combination in my attempt to color block. Still can't seem to get that trend right. I think its because I'm not a big fan of bright colors, that color blocking is a challenge for me.

~ Maxi Dress: Derek Heart Plus via Ross ~ Coral Cardigan: H&M ~ Shoes: Charles David Sandals Via Marshalls ~ Jewelry: Betsey Johnson (watch, ring and necklace) ~

What do you think about my color comb (Coral & Olive).  I actually liked the outcome of this outfit, but always like to improve and learn. Did I succeed or fail in color blocking?

  1. I love coral & olive together, I wore it last year and received lot's of compliments. I think its the masculine olive color with the girly coral that makes it so adorable. I think you pulled it off effortlessly. I love the dress and the cardigan... i need that cardi in my life. Not a bad weekend uniform... you look great.

  3. I love coral and I love olive, it's only natural they can go together, so I vote yes on the combo!  I love to throw parties too, it's so fun to get people together to just chit chat and kick it!
