Just the Basics

You know those days when you don't care what you wear, how you look, feeling blah and fashion is the last thing on your mind?  Yeah, had one of those weekends.  But always being the optimist (I try to be), got my butt up and out of the house.  Made my way to the beach, grab a java and enjoyed the sunset over the pier in Seal Beach.  Cool breeze, fresh ocean air and the waves crashing helped lift my mood.  All along side of my boo, what else can a girl ask for. Summer is in full effect, lets all get out and enjoy it. No matter how icky, yucky, blah or unfashionable you feel got out, get some sun, enjoyed the long days of summer and LIVE!  (promise to follow my own advise, pinky swear!)

After looking at the pictures, guess I don't look too hideously unfashionable and sloppy. Do I? ;)  Guess some where deep down inside I will always care about looking "stylish" no matter what mood I am in.  Are you enjoying summer so far?

Where did you get that?

Quicky outfit post, wearing some goodies I bought during City Chic 50% off sale last month.  I couldn't resist those great prices.  Since my first pair of jeans and top from City Chic, I knew they were going to be a new favorite retailer.  Love the styles, the quality and the service has been great.  Best part of buying from City Chic, is you won't see many others wearing the same thing.  Being a plus size gal we are limited to where we can shop and what we can wear. So you often see many women wearing the same clothes as you around town.  Besides other bloggers, when shopping over seas you are sure to be one of the few to have a certain outfit.  Many times when people ask me where I buy my clothes, they are surprised to find out about plus size retailers from other countries.  The wonders of the internet make it all possible to have more stylish and fashionable choices in plus size clothes.

Have you shopped from any foreign online retailers?  Which are your favorite?

Mango Madness

Mango how I love thee, let me count the ways...Lately mango has been invading my life.  From eating the actual fruit, to using mango scented items and loving the color of mango.  The taste of fresh cut mango, so juicy and fresh.  The flavor of mango frozen yogurt so sweet and delish.  The Body Shop's mango body collection, I've been using every day with a soft fruity scent wakes me up every morning.  What does this all mean?  Not sure, maybe its just a sign I am ready for summer.  Mango is a perfect fruit and great color for the summer.  Now I'm craving some mango color polish for my manicure and I will be set!

(Top Left to Bottom Right: Mango stripe dress, The Body Shop Mango collection, Essie mango-bango, Nars orgasm polish, Burt's Bees mango lip balm, Pinkberry mango frozen yogurt,  Alight mango necklace plus size dress)

Are you loving mango, as much as I am?  Has a food's color ever inspried your fashion?
Hope your summer starts off as fresh and fruity as mine. :)

Cid

Hi there gal pals! I am so psyched to have been asked by the Fabulous Cid from Cid Style File to be a guest writer on her blog!  I look forward to bringing you a little bit of my experiences and insight on fabulous events, finds, and awesome fashion deals I come across!

Let me tell you all a little bit about a wonderful Beauty Bar event during the MTV awards weekend Cid and I attended hosted by CoverGirl at the very elite Nine Zero One Salon in West Hollywood.  I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first arrived, but let me tell you that I was wowed as soon as I walked up those stairs into the salon.  It was filled with beautiful women who were enjoying their “me” time getting pampered…Now ladies who can reject a day of beauty courtesy of CoverGirl.

This place had it all! Make up, hair (including a braid bar, and blow outs), nails (manicures & pedicures), professional spray tans, and of course drinks provided by Hpnotiq promoting their yummy new Harmonie Liqueur flavor vodka.  I had the pleasure of getting my hair braided in a long lush fishtail with feather lock in place, courtesy of Shaylee Blatz, hair wiz extraordinaire as I waited for my turn to be pampered at the make-up bar.  When I alas got my turn at the make-up bar, I was introduced to CoverGirl’s new Natureluxe Silk foundation, and let me say that I think I am in love! This foundation goes on smooth and matched my skin tone to a T.  The make-up artist who I got the pleasure of being pampered by gave me a very light summery look and I was once again in love with CoverGirl products!  Along with the wonderful treatment from the hair and make-up team, I got to enjoy a very relaxing manicure & pedicure courtesy of Leena, from INSTYLE NAILS.  She worked magic on my hands and toes!

No real photos were allowed b/c of the celebs but I got a few with my iphone! Check out my girl Sirenz with her summer look...HOT

Now no CoverGirl event would be complete without a few celebs right?  How about Rumer Willis, Karina Smirnoff, Stephanie Pratt, Demi Lovato, Taylor Armstrong, Lisa Vanderpump, and Aubrey O’Day.  These lovely ladies took some time out of their busy day to get their beauty on!

All and all I have to say that this event was well worth the hype!  Thank you Cid Style File for inviting me as your guest and CoverGirl for making this event happen.  Till next time my gal pals, enjoy life, you only get one! ~Sirenz

Happy Hour

The weekend is over and so is my freedom!  Just kidding, I'm joking about it since I return back to the cubicle life on Monday.  I am grateful to be returning to work, so that means I have to dig out my "business attire"  I have never been one to love wearing business clothes, although my office dress code is more relaxed.  I still struggle with figuring out what to wear.  This weekend I had a little "happy hour" gathering with my girlfriends and enjoy some girl time.  Sadly most of my friends flaked out & didn't show up.  My BFF did come and to enjoy some wine and appetizers. Most people don't know this about me but I'm a really good party host. Even though this little happy hour was planned kinda last minute, I still managed to hook it up! :)   I had all the essentials; lotsa wine, cheese, crackers, chips, hummus, pita chips and yummy BBQ sliders.  Oh yeah and can't forget dessert (cheesecake)  It was really nice to see my bestie, hadn't seen her in a while and we had so much to catch up on.  Overall it was a very nice evening and we enjoyed all the wine and eats.  The weather was great and I enjoyed putting together a nice little spread for my "happy hour".  So now that I will be joining the 9-5 crowd, I am gonna look forward to the real happy hours!

I wanted to be cute & comfy (my fashion motto) and wore a new maxi dress I bought last week.  I probably won't be wearing maxi dresses much for the office, so this will probably be my weekend wardrobe for the summer.  I tried out a new color combination in my attempt to color block. Still can't seem to get that trend right. I think its because I'm not a big fan of bright colors, that color blocking is a challenge for me.

What do you think about my color comb (Coral & Olive).  I actually liked the outcome of this outfit, but always like to improve and learn. Did I succeed or fail in color blocking?
