Beauty Pageant Frenzy!

This weekend I had the pleasure to be part of the California Miss Plus America Pageant.   No I wasn't a contestant,  just attended the finals in Anaheim, CA.   My buddy Monique from Curves and Chaos was a judge for the pageant and invited me to see her in action.  It was an interesting experience and so nice to see all the beautiful curvy ladies in their gowns.  I hadn't plan to attend originally so did not have a outfit prepared for this event.  I literally came up with my outfit with in an hour, had to work with what I had clean in my closet.  Well it came together OK, I had a reason to wear my $5 dress from H&M+.  Yup this shift dress only cost me $5 and its been in my closet for awhile.  I threw on the dress, but didn't have tights so had to go with some leggings and my patent leather kitten heels.  I added some art deco inspired jewelry with a messy bun and voila! Off to the pageant I went.   We were not allowed to take any pictures during the actual pageant, so only have a few to share.  If your not familiar with the Miss Plus America Pageant you can get more details on their Facebook page here.  Congrats to all the winners!

  3. I love your $5 dress! This is a definitely a staple in any closet. I did beauty pageants in HS and some of my favorite beauty tricks I learned by doing them. Among my favorite are using duct tape for everything! Hairspray to hold my shoes in place (when they are provided by the sponsor and too big) and hemorrhoid cream to shrink my thighs and the bags under my eyes. LOL! That was long, long ago, but I think they might still work!?!?
