Fashion blogging can be a very self absorbed hobby to have. Most fashion blogs consist of purely self loving pictures of personal style outfits. When I initially started this blog, I really didn't have intentions of plastering pictures of my self. I really didn't feel comfortable or confident enough to display my self or my outfits on my own blog. It all seemed to vain and shallow to me, but oddly enough I did enjoy seeing what other bloggers were wearing. At one point it seemed almost dumb for me to have a fashion/style blog where I wanted to show the world being plus size didn't mean you couldn't be stylish and not have any pictures of my self. The whole idea of this blog was to prove that you can have style no matter your size or budget. So it happened one day almost 10 months after starting this blog I posed my first outfit picture. The response was so much better than I expected and it was a relief. No one laughed, no one had mean or rude comments and most of all it made me feel good about my self. I realized that blogging about my personal style was not necessarily me being vain or shallow, it was about me being confident.
I still have days when my issues about my weight or looks get me down, but one thing I have made peace with is my self. This is me and what I look like, no matter what any one thinks or says, I have to LOVE ME! Blogging has made me more confident and given me a sense of empowerment about who I am. This may sound silly to some people, but taking pictures has helped me be more confident and actually like taking pictures of my self now. I use to be the girl that shied away from pictures or tried and hide behind someone else because I felt embarrassed of my self and my body.
Now if you ask me to take a picture, I am ready with my pose. I want to have as many pictures of my self to show my kids one day, how their mom dressed, my style at the time and all the cool things I did because of blogging. Some of it can come acress as vanity, but I like to think of it as an evolution in self confidence and style.
Asos contacted me and asked me I wanted to do a review on my blog about on the clothing available on the Asos US website. Of course I said yes, Asos has a great selection of plus size clothing that are stylish, modern and fun. They have this tee "Believe In Your #Selfie" on the website and I knew it had to be mine. I normally don't wear slogan tees, but this one had a message I truly endorse. One thing blogging has taught me is to believe in my self, and value my self as woman. I love this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt:
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent"
The tshirt expresses this sentiment, believe in your self, be confident in who you are and no one can make you feel inferior. Don't give any one the power to make you feel bad about who you are. Believe in your selfie and have fun!
