Tribal Pattern - #UntamedStyle Linkup

Summer is in full effect, its been so hot here in California. There are often days when I literally just stay indoors and enjoy the AC. However for those days when you must get dressed and get out of the house, I struggle to figure out what to wear. When you are plus size, dressing for summer may not always be easy. I know most women throw on shorts and a tank top. For me it can be a struggle, as I am not always so comfortable exposing my legs and arms. Although thanks to blogging, I have become more confident and learned to love my body as it is. The process has been slow and there are days when I still struggle to fully embrace my self and love my body. Summer can be difficult, but some how I have managed to find outfits that keep me cool and make me feel comfortable and confident in my own body. I think many women have these struggles with their bodies, regardless of their size or age. This outfit is a great example, I felt good and kept cool while the weather was scorching hot!

Jeans are a staple in my wardrobe, I wear them all year long. Hot, cold, rain or shine I love jeans. They are great for any type of weather and style, in my opinion. I love paring jeans with fun print tops, like this one from H&M. I am wearing a tank cami underneath, but am not super comfortable exposing my arms. This light weight jacket was a great cover up, its super light weight and I loved the tribal print and color.

I insist on still wearing darker colors in the summer, because black is just a color I love. I try to balance it out with lighter and brighter colors in my accessories. Adding prints and patterns is a fun way to break up boring dark solid colors like black. I found this jacket on the clearance section at H&M, the print caught my attention from a far. I am always looking for unique pieces to add to my closet at affordable prices. H&M usually has great sales and great pieces that can work for everyone. I especially love it when the item is NOT from the plus size section and it fits. I've blogged about this before, how to shop non-plus size brands, you can read about it here

This light weight jacket has a great print and I can wear it many ways. I can see wearing it with a dress, and dressing up for evenings or even for the office as a blazer. My wardrobe has to be multi-functional being able to get many wears out of every garment. I am the type of person that will wear things over and over, when I love an item it gets lots wear.

I fell in love with these shoes, the color and style are exactly what I was looking for. I have way too many shoes, and sadly most are all black. Not sure why but I am not really a fan of colorful shoes. I needed to change that and these olive lace-up flats are a great start. Heels are not my friend, I've had several accidents wearing heels so I stay clear of them now. Flats are my best shoe friends and finding shoes with stylish details is everything. Some how the shopping gods were looking down on me the day I bought the shoes. I just happened to stumble upon the cutest olive handbag to match the shoes! Usually I don't match my shoes and purses, but this time it was faith that matched us up. It was meant to be, I had to buy the shoes and the purse to match. :)

  1. I have a hard time wearing jeans in the summer, since I wear them so much in the winter. I will wear shorts (although this is a new venture since I used to feel too old for them), and now I'm loving maxis!
I admit that I'm a shoeaholic, and had to laugh because I'm wearing my olive green shoes today too (mine are a short gladiator). It's amazing how much they go with---and I wasn't even looking for them!
I'm in love with your jacket---it's bright & colorful. I can see how it'd be so versatile.

  3. Love this outfit! The jacket is really cool and I am totally loving those shoes. Jeans are my favorite, too, but I do get too hot in summer unless they are a super lightweight denim. Have a fabulous weekend!

  9. Even though I wear shorts when it's hot, I still have a tough time accepting my body size too. For hot days, I love wearing a maxi dress to keep my clothes to sticking to me. Love your outfit!

  10. I tend to gravitate towards dresses and skirts in hot weather, they feel even cooler than shorts and are more comfortable. I really like your olive lace up flats and colorful jacket - they look wonderful with your jeans and tee! Thanks for linking up with Fabulous Friday! Hope to see you back this week.
