Today is my first post with Fab 40's Bloggers, I was invited to join an amazing group of fabulously fashionable bloggers who are 40+. Yes I am over 40 yrs old, in case you didn't know. Some people think I am younger and that is great, but I have never been one to deny my age. Age really is just a number given for the years of life you have lived. Your age doesn't tell the story of the kind of life you have lived. Being 40 no longer equates with being old, heck I don't even think 50, 60 or 70 is old. Age is all about perspective, how you feel and how you live. I sure as heck don't feel 40, act 40 or some may say even look 40 (what ever that may be). The Fab 40's group is 7 bloggers who love fashion and are here to show that style is ageless. Style comes in all ages as well as all sizes!

Summer is in full effect, its been so hot here in California. There are often days when I literally just stay indoors and enjoy the AC. However for those days when you must get dressed and get out of the house, I struggle to figure out what to wear. When you are plus size, dressing for summer may not always be easy. I know most women throw on shorts and a tank top. For me it can be a struggle, as I am not always so comfortable exposing my legs and arms. Although thanks to blogging, I have become more confident and learned to love my body as it is. The process has been slow and there are days when I still struggle to fully embrace my self and love my body. Summer can be difficult, but some how I have managed to find outfits that keep me cool and make me feel comfortable and confident in my own body. I think many women have these struggles with their bodies, regardless of their size or age. This outfit is a great example, I felt good and kept cool while the weather was scorching hot!

|Map of Baja California|
Have you ever visited Baja California? I was recently in Ensenada, Baja California on a family trip. We use to visit often when I was younger, in middle and high school my family took several yearly trips. After many years we eventually stopped going as often, due to various reason, mainly safety. There was a period when it become unsafe to travel down to Baja, especially by car. My parents decided it was no longer worth the risk. It has been over 15 years since my last visit. Recently my family begin going to Baja once again. I now have family living in Ensenada and it was time for a visit. I was a little weary of traveling to Baja, not gonna lie. After some convincing I decided to go with my family for a little get away by the beach. I am so thankful and grateful for this trip, my love of Mexico has been renewed. Baja has changed for the better and its much safer to travel. If you have never been to Baja or haven't been in a long time you need to plan a trip. Ensenada is a shorter drive from Los Angeles than going to Las Vegas! Yup, once you cross the boarder into Tijuana, it's about an hour drive down the Pacific Coast. A beautiful scenic drive will take your breath away and you will not regret making the drive. Ensenada now has toll roads which are safe, well maintained and the drive is much easier and quicker than ever.
Here are some highlights from my trip to Baja and some info for you to consider if you decided to visit for your self.

This post is a bit late, but I have a really good excuse! I didn't want to let this week go by with out posting the weekly #UntamedStyle Linkup. I was out of town for a few days and didn't get home until late Friday. See good excuse any time you can get away and have some R&R its a good excuse. I wasn't able to get a post up before I left, and didn't want to wait until next Friday. So as the saying goes "better late than never" right!!! This weeks outfit is from 4th of July, Americas Independence Day. As proud as I am to be American, I'm not really into literally wearing red, white and blue or stars and stripes. This is my interpretation of being patriotic and celebrating our Independence Day.

Have you ever had a "Staycation"? It's a fairly new thing that's become popular in the last few years. Basically a staycation is like a vacation, except you stay in your on city/town or somewhere close to home and visit local attractions. When you have a small budget, but need or want to getaway and can't afford a real vacation, you can have a staycation. This is totally an internet thing, someone made up and it just took off. I had never had a staycation and honestly when I first heard about it thought it was a silly thing. Well this past weekend I was able to have my own staycation and you know what, it was pretty cool! I won a prize last year from the Visit Anaheim visitors bureau, during a contest they had on my block. We have a weekly farmers market and Visit Anaheim was here for a promotional event. I was just walking to my building and was approached to enter the contest. I initially didn't want to do it because, I live in Anaheim and thought what's the point...LOL It seemed easy and harmless, just take picture, post it to Instagram and use a hashtag. I did it and went along my business. A week later I received a message on Instagram saying I won!
