Getting New Tires For Your Car

This a sponsored post by cars.com

Winter is almost here, although it doesn't mean much living in Southern California since we have very mild winters. We do however get some rain and those dreaded Santa Ana winds, varying conditions can make driving difficult and even dangerous. One way to make sure you are safe while driving is having your tires be in good condition.  I recently had to purchase new tires for my Prius. My job involves tons of driving all over the county and can drive more than miles in one day. I had noticed my tires starting to look a little worn down and didn't want to risk any accidents of issues.

I really didn't have a clue of where to start with getting new tires, starting with what size I needed. Online research led me to various site and I found many helpful articles on cars.com.  Everything you need and want to know about tires can be found. Such as how often should you rotate your tires and how to properly check and fill tires with air. Since we plan on taking some road trips soon, I wanted a good set of tires for all weather conditions.  Lots of little things we don't always think about when it comes to getting a new set of tires.  Doing your research is strongly recommended so you get the proper tires and get stuck with wrong ones.  Like did you know that tires have a shelf life as well?  Yup, many factors to know when getting tires for your car, you shouldn't always trust everything the "experts" tell you and do some researching for your self.

A couple things you should know before getting new tires, which you will probably be asked when getting serviced.  Size of the tires, you will need to the size of the tire and rims you have. You can easily find this info on the tire itself.  All tires have a number printed on them which identifies the size and rim, such as 195/65R15.  Also when was the last time you had your tires rotated and/or changed. You may also want to know what the correct tire pressure is for the kind of tires you have, in order to properly maintain them.  Nowadays there is no reason or excuse women shouldn't be more knowledgeable about cars and maintenance, with the Internet we have a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips.

Autumn Hues - The Fab 40's

Fab 40's is back and sadly it may be our last post. We have lost a few members for personal reasons and seems like we lost our mojo too. The last remaining members have decided to end the Fab 40's for now and take a break.  So lets say good bye with a sneak peek of Autumn/Fall colors. Summer is soon coming to end, but seems like we have been getting hit with heat all around. Kind hard to think about cozy fall clothes when your city is getting record high heat. I do love fall colors and styles, but for now lets just stick with the colors.

Autumn colors are rich and saturated hues that are classic and seem to go well with almost everyones skin tones. Let's see what me and my Fab 40's buddies have to share with you this month.

I really love olive/army green for fall, its a great alternative for black, which I wear too much of. I found this mesh type top in the clearance section at Avenue for only $6!!  I had seen it online and liked it, but usually hesitate to order online if I am not 100% sure on an item.  Once I saw it on the rack, I knew it was coming home with me!

Embroidered jeans have been so on trend and last Fab 40's DIY post I really wanted to make a pair of patchwork or embroidered denim. Since I wasn't able to pull it off, decided to just buy a pair. These are from a newish plus size line called Loralette. Its a bit more on the "junior" youngish side, but they have lots of pieces I really like. These jeans for example are too cute and so comfy. I liked the subtlety of having a few flowers on the side of the jeans and not all over, to make them more wearable. I know some brands do not market to the 40+ consumer but hey if I like it, I will wear it! Loralette is targeting the under 30 customer, but my money is green just like the younger girls! LOL

DIY Fashion - The Fab 40s

I'm a little late with this post, but this time I have a really good excuse!  Started working again this week after almost 6 months of unemployment. Thank you sweet baby Jesus. So yeah, those super early wake up calls, morning/evening commutes and getting use to a new routine has me a bit out of sort this week. I am so grateful to be working again, but I just can't stay up late working on the blog and then get up super early like I use to! Those days are gone, ah Fab 40's you making me look like an old lady....LOL Any how this month theme chosen by Diane is DIY!  I have wanted to do DIY on the blog for years. So many ideas swirling in my brain, I even have a box of stuff I bought for my DIY fashion post.  Nope, never happened so kinda glad the Fab 40's crew had this challenge for this month. I am still planning on doing a denim patch DIY, so lets cross our fingers it gets done this summer.

Finding Your Favorite Color - The Fab 40's

It's time for another installment of The Fab 40's!  This month we took it a bit easy, Ann chose the theme, to create an outfit with our favorite color. Seems easy enough right?  Well immediately I knew the answer would be black for me. Some may argue black is not a real "color"  but hey for some of us it is! As usual I like to challenge my self a bit when doing the Fab 40's post each month. I decided not to go with black, since probably more than half of my wardrobe is black, this would indeed be a challenge.  OK so what other colors do I love.  One of my current faves is olive green, but nope couldn't put together a decent outfit with that color.  OK how about 3rd favorite, yup that will work! Can you guess what my 3rd fave color is?

Finding My Tribe At The Torrid Pool Party

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Torrid Pool Party in Orange County, CA.  I was invited by Marcy Cruz as her plus one....yay!  Marcy who blogs at Fearlessly Just Me and is the blog editor of Plus Model Magazine, came to LA and wanted to make sure we hung out. Well what better place and event to hang out than the Torrid Pool Party.  I had met Marcy briefly at an event in LA many years ago. Since then we have maintained in contact via Facebook and social media.  Once I heard she was coming to my side of town, I wanted to see her and really get to spend some time with her. Its always great to meet and spend time with women who you can relate to on so many levels.

Villains - The Fab 40's

The Fab 40's is back this month with another style challenge. This month was my turn to choose a theme, since we all had so much fun with last months "Princess" theme. I wanted to play off that theme and chose "Villains" for April. It was fun to find our inner princess and play off our more sweet and innocent side, but its more fun to be bad!!! We all have a dark side to us, some of us show it more than others, but we ALL have an inner Villain! Mine is called "Maleficent" she is my inspiration for this months Fab 40's challenge.

Leather & Lace - The Fab 40's

I'm happy to return to the blog with this years first FAB 40's challenge. If you haven't been following the blog, last year I joined an international group of fashion bloggers over 40. Every month we choose a theme and each blogger features their own interpretation. This month Mary from Curlybyrdie Chirps chose the theme, true to her feminine style she gave us the challenge of leather and lace. A little bit of femininity with some touches of edginess. Leather and lace are items I do incorporate in my wardrobe, however don't think I have ever combine them into one outfit. This month truly was a challenge for me, I wasn't sure this outfit would come together. Honestly this outfit came together last minute, despite my hesitation I really love how this look turned out.

Working With The Basics From Avenue

This is a sponsored post featuring Avenue. All opinions expressed are my own.

When it comes to fashion, sometimes there's nothing better than basic pieces you can remix. As a fashion blogger I feel basic pieces get over looked for the trendy and more elaborate clothing items. I live in jeans with simple tees and blouses. Basic clothing doesn't have to be boring and can absolutely look stylish. Today I am featuring some basic wardrobe pieces courtesy of Avenue, jeans with a striped top that can be simple and comfortable yet stylish and fun.
