Leather & Lace - The Fab 40's

I'm happy to return to the blog with this years first FAB 40's challenge. If you haven't been following the blog, last year I joined an international group of fashion bloggers over 40. Every month we choose a theme and each blogger features their own interpretation. This month Mary from Curlybyrdie Chirps chose the theme, true to her feminine style she gave us the challenge of leather and lace. A little bit of femininity with some touches of edginess. Leather and lace are items I do incorporate in my wardrobe, however don't think I have ever combine them into one outfit. This month truly was a challenge for me, I wasn't sure this outfit would come together. Honestly this outfit came together last minute, despite my hesitation I really love how this look turned out.

Recently I have collaborated with Avenue to feature some items from their new arrivals. This a-line lace yoke dress was actually intended for New Years Eve, but my plans were ruined by the weather. We had some unusual rainy and cold weather in California. I know it sounds silly to say rain ruined plans, but we hardly ever get heavy rain in LA! Since my plans included being outdoors, we decided to stay in and ring in the new year warm and dry.

Since this dress didn't make it out for a night on the town for new years, I decided it would be great for this months Fab 40's challenge. I really love this dress, its great for many different occasions and seasons in my opinion. The shape is one of my favorites, a-line works great for my shape and is always so comfy. I really love the lace detail on top and the sheer layer. I can really see this dress working year round. I paired it with tights and booties for this challenge. My moto leather jacket added a bit of edginess I wanted, but the lace gives a touch of femininity.

I am thinking of maybe wearing this dress for Valentine's Day, not sure what plans I have yet. It can surely be dressed up with some sheer hosiery, heels and some bling.  Or even dress is down for spring with sandals and maybe a denim jacket. Lots of possibilities with this dress, I always love having versatile pieces in my wardrobe. All woman need to have that little black dress that can work for many different types of events or occasions.

Here are the ladies of Fab 40's with their Leather & Lace looks

Mary from Curlybyrdie Chirps chose this months theme She always looks stunning and classy. I really love how she used animal (snake) print to accent her look. The olive green leather skirt is gorgeous!!

Ann from Kremb De La Kremb always adds some fun and whimsical touches to her looks. Her leather and lace look it too cute, those shoes are adorbs. I am loving how Ann went with a totally different color, since most of us went with black or white. The nude fishnets are also a great touch of fun and sexiness.

Samantha from Fake Fabulous always looks so effortless. No matter what she wears or how she wears it, her outfits are always on point! This month she does it again with the leather skirt and cutest lace booties!
Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots if really giving major leather and lace with this look. Leather pants, lacy top and lace heels, and then BAM! She adds some polka dots.  She's giving total rocker chic vibes with this outfit!!

Sheela from Sheela Writes WOWS us once again with her look. We both went with leather jackets, but hers in blush gives it a touch of edge with her romantic lace dress.

Diane from Fashion On The 4th Floor, or as I like to call her Lady D! Looks gorgeous, stunning in her lace and leather look. I love that she went with leather shorts and a beautiful lace top. This look is a little funky and sweet, just like her!

Kim from The Haute Life is this months guest blogger. She's a haute mommy showing us how to wear a crop top. Her look is simple, but the details on her lace top are beautiful. Make sure you go visit her blog for more details.
