I'm happy to return to the blog with this years first FAB 40's challenge. If you haven't been following the blog, last year I joined an international group of fashion bloggers over 40. Every month we choose a theme and each blogger features their own interpretation. This month Mary from Curlybyrdie Chirps chose the theme, true to her feminine style she gave us the challenge of leather and lace. A little bit of femininity with some touches of edginess. Leather and lace are items I do incorporate in my wardrobe, however don't think I have ever combine them into one outfit. This month truly was a challenge for me, I wasn't sure this outfit would come together. Honestly this outfit came together last minute, despite my hesitation I really love how this look turned out.
Recently I have collaborated with Avenue to feature some items from their new arrivals. This a-line lace yoke dress was actually intended for New Years Eve, but my plans were ruined by the weather. We had some unusual rainy and cold weather in California. I know it sounds silly to say rain ruined plans, but we hardly ever get heavy rain in LA! Since my plans included being outdoors, we decided to stay in and ring in the new year warm and dry.
Since this dress didn't make it out for a night on the town for new years, I decided it would be great for this months Fab 40's challenge. I really love this dress, its great for many different occasions and seasons in my opinion. The shape is one of my favorites, a-line works great for my shape and is always so comfy. I really love the lace detail on top and the sheer layer. I can really see this dress working year round. I paired it with tights and booties for this challenge. My moto leather jacket added a bit of edginess I wanted, but the lace gives a touch of femininity.
I am thinking of maybe wearing this dress for Valentine's Day, not sure what plans I have yet. It can surely be dressed up with some sheer hosiery, heels and some bling. Or even dress is down for spring with sandals and maybe a denim jacket. Lots of possibilities with this dress, I always love having versatile pieces in my wardrobe. All woman need to have that little black dress that can work for many different types of events or occasions.
