Villains - The Fab 40's

The Fab 40's is back this month with another style challenge. This month was my turn to choose a theme, since we all had so much fun with last months "Princess" theme. I wanted to play off that theme and chose "Villains" for April. It was fun to find our inner princess and play off our more sweet and innocent side, but its more fun to be bad!!! We all have a dark side to us, some of us show it more than others, but we ALL have an inner Villain! Mine is called "Maleficent" she is my inspiration for this months Fab 40's challenge.

After I chose this theme, it made me think how am I going to dress up like Maleficent with out it looking like a Halloween costume.  Which by the way I do have, I've dressed up as Maleficent before. She's one of my favorite Disney characters.  I only watch the Sleeping Beauty movie because of her evilness!

Maleficent is the evil fairy, who cast a spell on the princess.  She's known as the most evil of all, Maleficent is jealous, vengeful and unforgiving. Although evil, Maleficent is regal in her presence. She has beauty and elegance in her own evil way, powerful and demands respect. These are all traits we can all relate to, sometimes we need to be that "bad" person to get what we want.

If you've ever seen the Disney live action version of Maleficent with Angelina Jolie, you know she was not always evil.  This movie gives us the backstory of how Maleficent became bad and evil. What made her change and become the "Mistress of All Evil."  As with most stories is goes back to being betrayed and hurt by those you love.  Now I know we can all relate to that story, at some point we have been lied to, hurt and betrayed by those we trust and love. It hurts and it can make us bitter and vengeful.  Maleficent did not take it lightly and was out for revenge and blood!!

Maleficent has many powers, one them being the ability to turn into a dragon and fly!  She has these awesome horns on her head and wings. Well I didn't want to be literal and wear horns and wings. Although I did consider doing something with my hair to represent horns, maybe 2 small buns?  Ok like I said, didn't want this to look like costume.

I have been waiting to wear this black off the shoulder maxi dress for months now. Just needed the right occasion to show it off. This is my modern day interpretation of my villain Maleficent. Black long, flowing dress, with exposed shoulders (for my wings) and side slits for a little drama. I didn't want to add too many accessories and kept it simple with just some tassel earrings and a bold black bracelet. I wore my suede black booties to give a bit of roughness, because Maleficent may be beautiful, she is tough and needs the right shoes to stomp out her enemies. I wore my purple sunglasses, since in the animated movie her colors are black and purple. The mirrored lens are great, because they reflect the image of anyone looking at me. While I hide my evil death stare towards my enemies, all while looking stylish. HA!

Here are the ladies of Fab 40's with their villainous looks

Diane makes a very stylish villain as Professor Snape from Harry Potter.

Samantha is not taking anyones BS with this look. She looks deadly and gorgeous as The Viper from Marvel Comics.

Sheela looks so sultry and sexy, she will seduce you and then kill you! Ha ha sorry I just couldn't resist, she looks so good as her villain Poison Ivy.

Jennie may look cute and innocent, but she's one bad ass momma! Bonnie Parker from Bonnie & Clyde never looked so good!

Annie is too awesome to be evil!  Although her villain doesn't come across as evil, she's definitely a bad girl.  If you can't guess who her villain is right off the bat, you probably haven't seen Mr. & Mrs. Smith.  Yup she's Mrs. Smith, ready to take out her hot hubby Mr. Smith!

Jaye is our guest blogger this month, I invited her to show of her fab curves. You know I had to choose a fellow plus blogger this month. I've known Jaye for years, we had the pleasure of meeting in IRL. She is totally channeling her villain Annalise Keating from How To Get Away With Murder.  So professional, with just a bit of sex appeal to throw you off her evil ways.

Who's your favorite Villain?

  3. Such a fun theme, especially in contrast to the Disney princesses! Maleficent is a great character to choose - I think if I had to pick one it'd have to be either Maleficent or Cruella. Your all black look is fab...I love your purple mirrored sunglasses. Thank you for linking up to Style With a Smile :-)
