Hello Good Bye

Another year is gone, 2012 seems like such blur. It was a tough year for me and my family.  2012 had some good moments, but instead of saying good bye...I am saying HELLO to 2013.

Some people are adverse to the number 13, but not me.  I've never been extremely superstitious and can't recall bad days or moments with 13.  If fact its been a good number to me so I am embracing 2013 and welcoming it with open arms and heart.  Hope your year was great, if it wasn't then don't despair.  We have a whole new year to makes changes, improvements and start a new.  Have a wonderful New Year! Thank you for continuing support of Cid Style File and I look forward to saying Hello to you and 2013.

I don't want to make any blog resolutions, but promise to make this new year a better one for the blog.  CSF was  bit neglected in 2012, but never forgotten.  2013 is gonna be the year for CSF to shine!

I leave you with this song, its not a goodbye but H E L L O to you!

Indigenous is #WorthWearing

The holidays can be wonderful, bringing out Christmas spirit.  Although I try to be positive and full of cheer all year, lately I wasn't feeling very cheerful.  No particular reason, just feeling a little sad with all the tragic things going on in the world and missing a few love ones that are gone.  I haven't even put up a Christmas tree or any decorations.  This weekend I decided to get out of my funk and enjoy some holiday cheer.  The boo and I went out for some shopping and dinner in Downtown Brea, CA.  I wore a new poncho c/o Indigenous Organic Clothing the bright green color and stripes reminded me of candy cane.  Along with the music and decorations I started to get back in the holiday cheer and feeling better.  Surprising what a little bit of color in your outfit can do for your mood.  At first I was not sure about the bold color and stripes of the poncho, it grew on me.  Green is my favorite color after all but don't wear it as much as I should.  The poncho is made of organic cotton, which makes it so soft and cozy.  Indigenous has so many great Eco-fashion items for the earth conscious fashionista.

Lacey Cheetah

It's been way to long since I posted an outfit.  Guess I haven't really been inspired with fashion in the past few months, so taking outfit pictures was not a priority.  This weekend I got a little bit inspiration to mix prints/patterns.  I've had these cheetah print jeans for a while and didn't really know what to pair them with, other than the obvious black shirt (oh how creative!..LOL)  Sometimes I see a trend I like, but can be a bit intimidated to try it.  Pattern mixing is one of those trends, love the look but wasn't quite sure how to do it for my self.  I attempted that look with this outfit, cheetah print and lace.  The color of the top helped pull it off, in my opinion. Guess I have to get out of my own head sometimes and just go with it.  Hope to be more daring with trends/outfits, and share more outfit post on the blog.  Sounds like I already have a new years resolutions...oh no it that time of year!  Lets not get ahead of ourselves just yet, we still have to get through Christmas outfits!

Got My Walking Boots, Do You?

Gosh feels like its been a century since my last post.  What can I say except I've been busy, good busy from working, to traveling to just enjoying life.  Well enough excuses, lets get down to blog business!

For the past month I have seriously been living in a pair of boots from Naturalizer.  These boots were literally made for walking...LOL  So Naturalizer isn't my usual brand I go to for cute, stylish shoes but you know what they are great!  They have this cute little quiz on their website which tells you what your Inner "Izer" is and helps you find the right shoe for you style.  I took the quiz and found out I'm a Synthesizer = "You're a little bit rock and a little bit roll. You turn it up every chance you get. Whether it's the latest trend in boots or a fabulous bold new accessory, your style is hip and always your own."  Its a fun little quiz and you know what, its totally right.  It takes you to a section of shoes that fits your "Izer" personality and I quickly fell in love with these Onset boots.  Just what my wardrobe needed. Comfy, cute and stylish boots for every outfit and occasion. The boots have this N5 technology (extra cushioning, breathable lining, balanced heel to toe, flexible soles and light weight material).   Which is what we all want in our shoes, right? Well I do, fashionable shoes are great, but in my book, if they are not comfortable to wear, the style doesn't matter.  Naturalizer gives both the style you want and the comfort you need.

The boots have been with me everywhere, from work, to weekend shopping, to concerts and even on my trip to NYC.  Seriously comfy and I can walk in them all day long.  I wore them with jeans, leggings, slacks, dresses and tights.  I hope they last me a long time because right now the Onset boots are my FAVE!

Go over to Naturalizer and take the "Izer" quiz here, you may be surprised to see what they have to offer.  Not only are the shoes comfy, but definitely have some very on trend and fashionable shoes for every style.

Let me know what "Izer" you are and share you fave shoes from Naturalizer.

#FreshSkin with Neutrogena

Holidays, Season Changing, Cold Weather and Eating Junk....All things that can cause you to break out and ruin your skin.  Doesn't matter how old or young you are, breaking out is something we are all susceptible to.  Actually for me it seems like once I hit 30, my skin broke out more...Hormones?  Who knows what it is, but as teenager I had perfect skin...LOL  Now I tend to still have pretty good skin, but every now and again a break out/pimple creeps up on me.  The stress and eating of the holidays doesn't help my skin stay clear.  I find that its important to have a good skin care routine to help prevent those nasty break out and keep my skin looking young and fresh.  It really doesn't matter if you use fancy department store products or drug store buys, as long as you do something to keep skin clean and clear.  Me personally I prefer drug store products, not only are they accessible and affordable to everyone, but they work just as well as the fancy stuff.

Neutrogena is one of those products you can find almost every where.  I am currently trying out their Pink Grapefruit Oil Free line of products.  These 3 products will hopefully get me through the holidays pimple free!!

  • Oil Free Acne Wash - Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub, has small beads in it to help exfoliate gently and remove oil, dirt and any impurities.  The grapefruit scent is awesome which gives you a little pep and invigorate your skin.  After using it, my skin felt so smooth and fresh.
  • Oil Free Acne Wash - Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash, this also has the delicious scent, helps you wake up if  you use it in the morning.  I liked foaming action and leaves your skin squeaky clean!
  • Oil Free Cleansing Wipes - Pink Grapefruit Acne Prone Skin, although I don't have acne, these wipes do a the job of removing all the junk on your skin. The package doesn't say they are made to remove makeup, but they do!  I used them to get rid of makeup, dirt, oil and any other yucky stuff on my skin.  The do give your skin a little tingle with natural grapefruit extract.

Overall Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit products smell great and work really well.  My skin feels really clean and fresh after each use.  I plan on using them through out the entire holiday season and hope to be pimple free until the new year.   Can't have those nasty blemishes show up on all my holiday photos and outfit post.  If your in the market to try a new skin care routine for this season, check out Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit and all their other great products.  I love the affordability and availability of all their products.

Are you a fan of Neutrogena?  Which products have you tried from Neutrogena?  What are your holiday skin care tell!

A Little Country Never Hurts

Finally fall is here and although the weather hasn't gotten too cold in California, boot season is in full effect.  I have always loved boots, even as a little girl I always had a new pair of boots for the fall/winter months.  These past 2 weeks, I have been wearing boots everyday.  Mostly to hide my toes, who are in desperate need of a pedi...LOL  But you will never know underneath my boots!  These Dallas Western Boots from Maurices are the newest pair to my collection.  These boots are oh so comfy and very cute.  I love the dark brown color and western inspired style with out being too "country."   Last weekend there was a Fall/Halloween festival literally outside my building and wore my Dallas boots.  I walked for hours and felt no discomfort, the rubber soles makes the heels cushioned.  My fave detail is the braid wrapped around the boots.  Its the little details that make any thing special.  Maurices has lots other boots styles and cute clothes too.  Although they have no stores on the west coast, Maurices is available online. Check them out here, and some pics of me having fun in my Dallas boots!

Are you wearing your boots yet? What style of boots is your favorite for fall?

Vegas Road Trip

Last weekend I took a road trip to Vegas. I was due for a trip and took my new ride (Prius) for a spin. Me and my boo spent the weekend in Vegas, which was not one of my best trips.  If it wasn't for the fact I was there for the JLo and Enrique Iglesias concert (thanks to State Farm), this trip was sucky.  First of all it took me 6 hrs to get to Vegas from LA. Normally my drive is no more than 4 hrs, but thanks to 2 accidents for adding those 2 dreadful hours.  The weather was cray-cray in Vegas, besides the obvious heat, there was rain, thunder and lighting....So no pool time for me.  Seriously as soon I made my way pool side a storm hit vegas and I was done!  I was only Vegas for no more than 48 hrs and didn't get to shop either!  WTF!!  Thats my favorite past time while in Vegas...Shopping.

Oh well the silver lining was the concert, it was a blast.  Totally impressed by JLo and Enrique, both were great performers and kept the crowd on their feet all night long.  Well I am back to blogging more regularly (fingers crossed) so look out for more fun things to come. Thanks for hanging in with me.  :)

Here is what I wore in Vegas for the concert.  Found this chevron strip dress at ROSS.  Yes, I got it at Ross!!  LOL

Here's a few snap shots from concert, taken with my iPhone so excuse the quality...Enjoy!

Embracing My Latino Roots With Music

Fashion and Music always seem to be synonymous with each other, one always influencing the other.  Music has always been a part of my life, since I was baby there was never a shortage of Mexican music being played.  From the time we woke up until we went to bed, music was always in the background.  My father loved music and he always made sure we loved it too.  Between my father blasting the record player and my mother sewing on her machine, I think it was impossible for me not to love both fashion and music.  Although I didn't grow up to be a fashion designer or musician, they both have strong influence in my life.  I became a blogger instead....LOL

I remember a point in my life where Spanish and Latino music was rarely heard on the radio or on TV.  I always listened to it at home because of my Latino heritage, but when I heard it on the radio as well, it was heavenly.  Over past decade Latin artist has made major impacts in both music and fashion industry.  Artist Jennifer Lopez have influenced both genres.  JLo is not only an award-winning singer, but has a very successful fashion line.  It's so refreshing to see Latinas like JLo being a major player in an industry traditionally dominated by men.  She is a triple threat no doubt, singer, actress, and fashion designer.  Definitely a great role model for Latina women.

Another great Latino artist is Enrique Iglesias, who took the music world by storm.  Guess it helped that is dad, Julio Iglesias was already a major Spanish singer world wide.  I love that both these artist have made major impacts both in English and Spanish music worlds.  Being bilingual I get to enjoy both these artist music in both languages. Some how I do love some songs more in Spanish, they have more soul and meaning to me.   I am even more excited to experience both these artist very soon in Las Vegas.   I have never been to a concert in Las Vegas and having Enrique and JLo be the first makes it more special.
