My Holiday Beauty with Neutorgena

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Neutrogena and Latina Bloggers Connect.

A few days before Christmas I head off for a weekend road trip. My destination was Las Vegas to spend some time with my boyfriend's family. Holidays can be stressful, so adding traveling and in-laws....that can be a disaster. No one has time to worry about things like make up, so I am relying on Neutorgena to help me have a worry free holiday. My trip will be short and I want to travel light, but I want to look my best as well. Neutrogena sent me some products to create some easy holiday looks. I will be using them on my trip and sharing my looks on Instagram (so make sure you follow me!)

This is what I received from Neutorgena:

  • Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
  • Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup
  • Crease Proof Eye Shadow
  • Healthy Lengths Mascara
  • MoistureSmooth Color Stick

The Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes are great for traveling, they make it easy to remove all the days gunk from you face when you had a long day. I'm not gonna lie I get lazy to remove my makeup sometimes. When I am traveling my make needs to be easy and quick. I don't want to spend hours applying make up and miss out on all the fun. Hello I am in Vegas so every second is fun-filled! A little Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation, some Crease Proof eye shadow and mascara and I'm out the door. For a finishing touch I 'll apply some MoistureSoomth Color on my lips.

Neutrogena, makeup, crease proof eye shadow, holiday beauty looks, nude lips, gold eye shimmer, natural look, latina style blogger

During the holidays I mostly spend time just catching up on movies and hanging out with my family and friends.  I am not really into getting all dressed up in fancy dresses, so my holiday looks are usually more tone down.  I like to add just a bit of shimmer or sparkle in my eye shadow or lips.  Since I am in Vegas, my make needs to be simple and natural.  I added just a bit of gold shimmer in my eye with the Neutrogena CreaseProof Shadow in Stay Golden a nude lip to with MoistureSmooth Color in Warm Caramel.

What's your favorite holiday beauty look? Are you glam, natural or go all out with you makeup during the holidays?

Gift Guide For The Last Minute Shopper

Only about one week left before Christmas and I haven't even started my shopping.  I know what your thinking, what is wrong with me?  Well you know how it is, you get busy working and with life.  I am not worried, usually do my shopping last minute anyway. So decided to do a little gift guide with some ideas for last minute gifts.  All gifts are under $50 and can easily be purchased online or in-store.  Your friends and family will think you spent lots of time and thought into their gifts. Best of all these gifts are one size fits all and no one needs to know it was a last minute gift!

  • Monogram Mug: Make it personal with out spending too much money.  Everyone needs a cute mug with their initial. (I use mine everyday!)
  • Designer iPhone Case: Mara Hoffman iPhone case from Incase, great for the social media obsessed fashionista in your life.
  • Bluetooth Speaker: It's small, cute and the music lover will be impressed with this gift.
  • Makeup Brush Set: Get the new year started with a new set of brushes, the makeup diva will thank you.
  • Alice + Olivia Gift Set: This bearista and tumbler from Starbucks in collaboration with designer Alice + Olivia is too cute and the coffee stylish girl (like me) is gonna flip over it!
  • Coach Key-chain: This is one would be great for the shoe lover and you don't even need to know her size.
  • Fancy Macarons: Not sure what to get, a box of fancy macarons can be a delightful and delicious surprise.
  • Everyday Tote: This tote is cute and great for everyday use, give a designer bag without the designer price.

P.S.  I would love any of these gifts underneath my Christmas tree. :)

Style Report: Classic Plaid Shirt

My college days were spent wearng jeans, docs and plaid shirts. It was the mid 90's and grunge was the music all the cool kids were listening too. The fashion was simple yet the message was powerful. A plaid flannel shirt was a must for all the guys and girls closets.  I may have even borrowd my brothers plaid shirts once in a while.  Back then plus size clothes for a young college girl were not esay to find. I have always loved plaid, and been wearing it since I was a young girl. I even wore plaid skirts with out ever being in private school.  I actuall got teased for wearing plaid, in my neigherborhood, only the catholic school girls or cholos wore plaid shirts.  Then the grunge era came along and it was ok for eveyone to wear plaid.  Needless to say my love of plaid has never faded and now this trend seems to be resurfacing in fashion.  Happily now I don't have to sneek into my brothers or boyfriends closet for a good plaid shirt....but may I will just for fun!  There are many good plus size options in fashion today.

A plaid shirt is one of those items who can outlive any fad in fashion.  It's a classic, no matter what era it may be you can style it to fit with the current trend.   Currently I don't have a plaid shirt in my wardrobe and need to get one ASAP!   Maybe I'll dig out my Dr. Martens and Nirvana CD to go along with my new plaid shirt!

Here a few button down plaid shirts I found, that are classic but also on trend.  I am sucker for a classic red tartan plaid.

1. Wet Seal $24.90  ~ 2. Torrid $44.50  ~ 3. Avenue $34.99
4. Forever21 $22.80 ~ 5. Target $22.99 ~ 6. Ralph Lauren $41.99

Getting To Know Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

I am no make up artist or beauty expert, but I do love to play with new make up. I've known about Bobbi Brown for many years, but just never had the opportunity to try it out, until this year. I received some preview samples from Bobbi Brown, below are some of the items I've gotten to play with and test out. Recently Bobbi Brown has released a few new collections. The Rich Chocolate collection for Fall and the Holiday Collection for 2013.

make up
I'm wearing the Rich Chocolate Collection
lip gloss in Tea Berry, blush in Berry
Black Chocolate mascara.
The Rich Chocolate Collection, which was introduced in fall 2013, is a richer, deeper and denser than most browns.  The collection takes a modern twist on classic colors.  I previewed the lip gloss in Tea Berry, blush in Berry and the Extreme Party Mascara in Black Chocolate.  I really love the lip gloss, which has a smooth finish with out being too sticky. The lip gloss goes on nicely with a tapered applicator and the Tea Berry color goes well with many skin tones. The blush in Berry is a silky formula with no shimmer. The Berry hue is very pigmented and little dab will do when applying to your cheeks.  I didn't love this shade for my skin tone, it was too reddish.  Since I have red undertones in my skin this color just made me looked flushed and didn't flatter me at all.  I think it would look lovely on someone with a more tan/olive skin. My skin is too fair for this Berry blush.  The mascara was great, although this was not fully black, it still looked great.  The rich dark brown color complimented my brown eyes nicely. The applicator is great, as it did not pick up to much mascara, which avoided clumping.  I also previewed the new Smokey Eye Kajal Liner, which comes in several great colors.  The liner comes with a smudger on opposite end.  For me the liner is great, since I am clumsy when it comes to applying it.  The eye liner is a soft smooth formula which makes it easy to glide on with out pulling and tugging at your eyes.  The smudger sponge also works well for the smokey eye effect, which I am still trying to master.

Saved my favorite for last, the Holiday Collection Smokey Cool Eye Palette.  Every year Bobbi Brown releases a fabulous Holiday Collection.  This year I previewed the eye palette, which contains 6 shades in a mirrored case.  The shades included in the palette contain both matte and shimmery hues.  I especially love the dual applicator brush.  The flat end of brush works great for applying color along the lash line, which I prefer to do instead of liner for my daily makeup. Looking forward to creating some fun looks for the holidays with the shimmer shades from this palette.   Overall I am very pleased with all the Bobbi Brown makeup I've used.  The quality is great and I especially loved the lip gloss texture and look on my lips.

Baking Instead of Shopping on Black Friday with Nestle (GIVEAWAY)

*This post is in collaboration with All You Magazine and El Mejor Nido Nestle*

It's December 1st and that means Christmas is only a few weeks away, the holidays are going by too fast.  The holiday season is always my favorite, from spending time with family, baking and eating all the delicious treats. OK truth be told I'm better at eating the treats than I am at making them...ha ha.  My sister is the baker in the family, I usually assist her in baking and obviously in eating her delicious creations.  Well this time it's my turn to bake and create some yummy treats.

Thanks to All You magazine, they sent me a lovely basket filled with Nestle products and recipe to make coffee flan cupcakes and a festive beverage bar.  As I read the recipe it all sounded great with all my favorite things, chocolate, coffee and flan!!   Well thank goodness the recipe was easy to follow and make. Flan to me always seemed like something really difficult to make and only my abuelita made. Well after making this easy coffee flan cupcake recipe I am more confident in my flan baking abilities.

I enlisted the help of my sister and niece, instead of black friday shopping we decided to bake.

Here is what you need to make this recipe
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 12 foil cupcake liners
  • 1 can (14 oz) NESTLÉ LA LECHERA Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 can (12 fluid oz) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk
  • 1 tablespoon NESCAFÉ CLÁSICO Pure Instant Coffee Granules
Start to finish, my niece assisting me in baking the flan.

Just a few products needed to make this recipe, it actually was really easy.  Just 35 mins in the oven and our flan cupcakes were done. After a few hours in the fridge they were ready to eat.  I made some Nestle Abuelita Mexican hot chocolate to go along with our treat.  On the back of package was another recipe to make Mokalita,  just add some Nescafe instant coffee to your hot chocolate and your done. You have a mocha hot chocolate or Mokalita.  My sister, niece and I enjoyed our coffee flan cupcakes and hot chocolate watching movies.  It was a great way to spend a chilly Friday evening.

Final product, my coffee flan cupcakes, they taste better than they look!

Do you want to try making coffee flan cupcakes?  You can find the entire recipe and instructions here (link) on the El Mejor Nido Nestle website.   The website also has other flan recipes and many more holiday treats to enjoy with your familia. You can sign up for El Mejor Nido site and get tons of recipes, rate and review, as well a receive a monthly newsletter with recipes and offers, its free so you have nothing to lose! Oh and its all in English or Spanish, you choose the language you want view.  I can share recipes with my mother in Spanish, so she can try them out too.

Since it's the holiday season of giving, All You Magazine wants me to give 3 readers a basket with all the items to make your own coffee flan cupcakes and beverage bar.   You can enter below for a chance to win a basket of your own.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post, but was given products to recreate recipe.

Shopping With A Stylist @Macy's

polk dot sweater
Ready to get my shopping on!
It's no secret I'm a big time shopper, OK so maybe a little too much shopping is done at times. When you get invited to shop with a fashion stylist at one of your favorite stores, how could you say NO!   About a week ago my friend and plus size stylist/fashion expert Reah Norman hosted a shopping day at Macy's in Brea Mall.   I had to be there to support my friend Reah, and hello it was held at my local Macy's which has pretty good plus size department, this was a must do!

When I arrived the DJ was spinning an music bumping away.  I spotted all the models who had been styled by Reah.  It was an awesome sight to see many beautiful, stylish curvy plus size shoppers.  I said hi to Reah, and headed toward my favorite brands, INC, American Rag and Jessica Simpson.  The racks were full of all the latest fall styles and sale/discount signs to match.  Along with the music, models and sales, there were also treats being passed around.  It was plus size shopping heaven!   I grabbed a few pieces to try on and headed to the dressing room.  It was a win for me, both of items fit, were on sale and I was able to use an extra 20% off coupon!  SCORE!!

The lovely Reah Norman, styled to perfection.
I also got to chat with blogger Janae from Naturally Curly Kinky, she's a sweetheart.
You can check out her recap here.
Chunky knit sweater and faux moto jacket I scored from Macy's.
My face doesn't show it, but I was excited!
I didn't really get a full outfit picture, was too busy shopping and mingling. Wore two of my new favorite clothing items, polka dot sweater from HM+ and leggings from Matty M.  I have been on a cozy sweater kick lately, can't get enough! Here a little video as well of my shopping adventure with Reah at Macy's.

Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel for more videos.

*This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Unilever and Latina Bloggers Connect.*

Being Red Carpet Ready and always looking your best isn't easy.  We all have those day when all you want to do is put on sweats, a tee, head out with no make up and big pair of sunglasses.  Some days that's fine, but being a fashion blogger that doesn't always work.  I do feel pressure at times to always look my best, you never know whose watching!  Ha Ha Ha

Does it sound silly?  Maybe I am silly, but there is nothing wrong with wanting to look and feel your best always.  Well with the help of CVS and Divina Latina, I can look fab every day.  We all need a little help with hair, makeup and skin care to look like a Red Carpet Diva.  CVS has all the products you need to make you look like a Divina Latina.  I especially need tons of help with my hair, making sure it's not a big frizzy hot mess.  Since my hair is so curly, it tends to frizz and can be difficult manage.  I like using products with Keratin, like TRESemme Keratin Smooth, Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum, helps eliminate frizz, while giving you shine.  Curly hair also tends to dry out and look dull. With TRESemme Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum I get a two in one solution for frizziness and dullness.

Better Than Black Friday Sales

Well it's time for one of my favorite times of the year.  Not only do we get to stuff our faces with yummy food for Thanksgiving, but the holiday shopping officially begins.  So if your not the type to head over to your local mall at midnight after your Turkey dinner for black Friday shopping.  Check out some local warehouse and sample sales in Southern California.  I love a good sample/warehouse sale, they can be hit or miss and sometimes you may wait hours in line to get in. If your patient and are not afraid to get a little dirty digging through racks or boxes of items,  you can find some really great deals. I love the thrill of finding a great fashion bargain!!!

So if your in the Southern California area check out this sales going on this weekend and for the rest of the holiday season.

Happy Shopping!

Tips for Luminous Skin with #MujerDove

*Sponsored post*
This month I have been working with Dove ClearTone on a campaign along with 20 other Latina Bloggers.  If you have read my previous post you may know that Dove has a new deodorant/anti-perspirant called ClearTone Pink/Rose designed to help renew you skin.  Many women suffer from dryness or irritation when shaving their underarms, Dove ClearTone can help reducing redness and dark marks.  Dove wants to help you have luminous skin from head to toe and even on your underarms.  A couple weeks ago Dove had a twitter party, which I hope you were a part of, where we shared our own tips to help keep our skin looking our best.  Many shared great homemade treatments to common skin issues such as dryness, dull skin and irritation.  Here are some of the tips shared that were most commonly referenced.

Hydration: Staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water was a big tip most woman gave during the twitter party. Drinking lots of water will help your skin stay hydrated and prevent it from drying out as well giving you a healthy glow.

Exfoliation: Exfoliating is also important when it comes to getting healthy luminous skin. Many bloggers shared their recipes for homemade scrubs, using common kitchen ingredients like sugar, honey, olive and coconut oil. Using a scrub can help remove dead skin and give you smoother and softer skin, even under your arms. I never thought to use a scrub on my under arms, but makes total sense.

Moisturizing: It's almost a no brain-er, yet not everyone moisturizes daily. Using a lotion or cream daily will helps keep your skin soft and luminous. Drinking water help keep your skin hydrated from the inside, so think of moisturizing as keeping your skin hydrated from the outside. It's also a good idea to add a sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

What are some of your tips to keeping your skin healthy and luminous?
Please leave me a comment and share your secrets!

Don't forget to also enter the Dove giveaway which ends tonight at midnight. Three winner will be selected to win a years supply of Dove products and a $100 Rent The Runway gift card.  Don't miss out, enter HERE

Do You Worry About Being "The Stinky One"

cidstylefile.com
*Sponsored Post*
For some odd reason when ever I am out in public and smell some bad B.O, I check to make sure its not me!  I am always paranoid about being the stinky person, and forgetting to put on deodorant.  That's always a fear of mine, having bad body odor, is that weird?  Well thank goodness for Dove ClearTone Deodorant, I am covered and don't have to worry about being "the stinky one." I love the scent with calendula and sunflower seed extracts, the scent is subtle not overwhelming and fresh. I never have to worry about smelling bad with the 48 hour protection. Dove ClearTone Anti-Perpirant/Deodorant is designed to reduce red and dark marks and even skin tone resulting from shaving irritation. After using Dove ClearTone for a week my underarm skin feels much smoother and soft.  I don't often wear sleeveless shirts or dresses but that doesn't mean my underarms shouldn't be fabulous and have luminous skin. If you suffer from underarm irritation as a result of shaving you're among the 32 million women in the U.S. who have experienced this.  Shaving can cause underarm skin to lose 50% more moisture and lead to dryness and irritation. Dove Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant is an "over the counter" remedy, specifically formulated with Calendula and Sunflower Seed Extracts. It’s designed to reduce red and dark marks and even skin tone.   If your suffering from underarm skin irritation or problem with B.O. you must try the New Dove ClearTone Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant.  It's a definitely must have beauty item for all woman.

Dove wants to make sure you never go with out deodorant and have fabulous luminous skin. Below you can enter the amazing giveaway, 3 winners will selected. Just leave me a comment with your tip for luminous skin.  Additional entries available, make sure to like CidStyleFile on Facebook!

Twitter Party Time Tips for Luminous Skin #MujerDove

*Sponsored Post*

Now that the colder months are here, do you still shave your underarms?  It’s not something I think about really, but yes I still do shave.   The process of shaving can reduce the top layer of skin by 20%, leaving the skin sensitive and exposed to chafing or dryness. Dove Clear Tone nourishes your skin and soothes irritation. Along with all the Dove Clear Tone deodorants, Dove Clear Tone Pink Rosa is designed to reduce red and dark marks caused by shaving and it leaves underarm skin more even-looking in just two weeks. As a perk, Pink Rosa has a floral and fruity rose and raspberry blossom scent.

Want to learn more tips about having luminous skin; join me and other Latina Bloggers in a special twitter chat on Tuesday 10/29/13.  I am one of 20 Latina bloggers selected in partnership with Dove Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant who will participate in a special campaign.  Tomorrow 10/29/13 @5pm PST, I will be participating in a twitter chat, learning tips to have luminous skin with Dr. Barba.  Come join the twitter party by following hash tag #MujerDove, prizes will also be given out.  Three winners will be selected to receive a $75 SpaFinder gift card and Dove ClearTone products.  For more details and to RSVP to the Dove ClearTone Twitter party click here.  There is also a pre-twitter party giveaway for those who RSVP and tweet about chat.  Prizes include a $25 gift card  for up to 4 winners.

Torrid Holiday Collection 2013

Last week I was invited to attend the Torrid Holiday Collection preview.   I headed to the Torrid HQ for an afternoon fashion show along with other fashion bloggers from So Cal.   The show was lead by Curvy Girls Lornalitz and all the models were Torrid employees.  After the show we were treated to champagne and yummy treats, as well as being able to try on some of the clothes seen on the runway. These items are not yet for sale and will be in stores mid November.  It was exciting to see all the lovely employees model the clothes.  There were lots of jewel tones, cobalt blue, emerald green, purple and ruby red. Cozy sweaters, blazers, jackets, leggings and of course jeans made there way down the runway.  Some cute dresses and sparkly items as well for all those holiday parties and special nights.  I am sure you will find something you love from this collection.  I already have my eye on a few items and can't wait to get my hands on them for the holidays.

Below are some of the models and their looks.  I took tons of pictures but these were the best ones. Its not as easy as you think to snap a good picture of a model coming down the runway.  Especially when all you have is your iPhone...Enjoy!

L - R: Sapphire Collection, Amethyst Collection, Emerald Collection and The Marilyn Sweater
L - R: Sequin Lip Sweater, Skill Graphic Sweater, Knit Blazer, Stripped Peplum Blouse

Latina Magazine & Covergirl Hollywood Hot List

Earlier this month I attended the Latina Hollywood Hot List party to celebrate all the HOT Latinos in Hollywood.  I was invited by Covergirl, who sponsored this fabulous party.   I never miss a Latina Magazine/Covergirl party, they are always fabulous and have the best of food, drinks and celebs.

The party was held in Hollywood at the Redbury hotel, complete with red carpet arrivals and signature drinks by Baileys.  The room was full of Latino celebrities like Ana Ortiz from Devious Maids, Aimee Garcia from Dexter, Covergirl Becky G and Latina Magazines October covergirl Naya Rivera from Glee. My self and many other Latina bloggers were in attendance courtesy of Covergirl. We also got treated to some really yummy sushi from Katsuya which is across the street from hotel and lots of delish desserts. Covergirl had makeup stations where you could get your face refreshed by pro MUA like Artemis who is pictured below. The night was lots of fun and Latina/Covergirl parties never disappoint.

A few party shots, mingling with celebs, bloggers and makeup artist.
This is what I wore to the party, a babydoll dress from Fashion To Figure, a plus size store from the east coast.  They don't have any shops out here in California, but I got the dress online.  I have known about this shop for a while now, but this is my first item purchased from FTF.  The fit is great and was true to size, I received lots of compliments on this dress during the party.   I will be definitely getting more things from FTF, they have lots of cute stuff and very affordable prices.

Purple Purses Can Make A Difference

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and The Allstate Foundation.

Did you know October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month? I had no idea, since domestic violence is not a commonly talked about subject. The statics are astonishing and we should all be talking about it. I was asked to participate in The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Project. This project was started 3 years ago by Allstate to raise money and bring awareness to domestic violence in the US.

Domestic Violence affects 1 in 4 women, which is more than breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lung cancer combined. Yet no one is talking about it, but today we can all do our part to make a difference and help out those woman and children affected. You don’t have to be a victim or suffered some type of domestic violence to participate. It’s very easy and doesn't cost you a thing…it all starts with a Purple Purse. I was sent a cute little Purple Purse to share and pass along to other women. Inside the purse is a code you enter at www.purpleurse.com and every time a code is entered The Allstate Foundation will donate $5 to YWCA up to $350,000 can be earned for programs aimed to help domestic violence survivors stop the cycle of abuse.

A majority of Americans agree that domestic violence is tough to talk about. More than one-third of Americans have never discussed the issue with family or friends and Purple Purse provides a conversation starter. I know it’s not something ever discussed with my family or friends. Although I have never personally been a victim of domestic violence, I know woman who have been and sadly witnessed someone being abused as a child. The memory of this woman being hit by her boyfriend is forever ingrained in my memory. As a child I didn't understand why this was happening and couldn't do anything about it. Now we can all help with The Purple Purse Project.

Not everyone will be able to get the actual Purple Purse, but I have a virtual purple purse to share with all my readers. Take this code 0003, enter it at www.purplepurse.com and every time you do $5 will be donated to YWCA until the end of October. It really doesn't get any easier than this and a simple gesture can help many woman and children who are or have been victims of domestic violence.
